After I sought out this information, the different types of treatments you could seek with follicular lymphoma, I decided to out of the advice of my oncologist, enroll in a clinical trial. I am in a large group trial for a drug called Rituxin that I completed last year. The results of the treatment on my trial for me personally is I’ve had complete remission of my cancer at this point, I’m about a year into it and I believe the average remission time is about 18 months, it works better for some then it works for others but I’m hoping it holds, that’s I think what everyone kind of goes through this for, a long remission period, and then if it does come back you go through more treatment. The lead investigator on that trial is my oncologist Dr. Brad Kahl University of Wisconsin. I think when most patients hear the word clinical trail it has in some peoples mind a negative thought process that you’re, you know maybe your too far gone, or your, you are testing something unusual, and that is not what we’re doing, you are obviously in a trial, your testing something that hasn’t been done before, but your also doing break through research of things that can help you and help other patients, and that had a great appeal for me, that I am leading the way for patients like me and patients after me that this is going to be of great benefit, its safe, its reliable information that people will be able to use after me.
